Weskalia's Denpa teki na Kanojo Tv Review

Rated: 8

If ever there was a title that really didn't tell you anything about a show, Denpa teki na Kanojo would be a good answer. The reality, however, is that these are the most telling things about Denpa, a show that's all about mystery, intrigue and keeping your cards close to your chest.

And that's really what it does best, throwing out plot points like shrewd bets from a poker-faced card shark. A bold opening move, answered by bluffs, cunning bets and a quick move into the call, where the episode comes to a nail-biting conclusion. Each episode manages to surprise at the end with its expertly woven drama and suspense. All in all, there's a lot here to like, because a lot of the show's appeal will be completely unexpected to most viewers.

Weskalia's Kurenai Tv Review

Rated: 8

Series that want to be everything to everyone are a dime a dozen, but the ones that can actually do everything - action, intrigue, light humor, misty-eyed drama, and even hints of romance - in a single first episode without breaking a sweat and look good in the process are considerably more valuable than that, and that certainly holds true with Kure-nai. One may have to muddle through some weak feel at early episodes, but the late pay-off will certainly be worth it.

Sometimes humorous, occasionally extreme, and nearly always fun, the warm relationship of the two main leads and voluminous casting, combined with strong voice acting, animation, and musical score, make this one of the year's best series.

Weskalia's Dragon Ball Tv Review

Dragon Ball

Rated: 8

Since its release, Dragon Ball has become and still remains one of the most successful manga and anime series of all time. So it's no surprise that finally a dedicated adaptation of the manga appears after such a long time. Despite some annoyances, Kai does its best to be considered the best version of this classic shounen franchise. Even if it seems like it is treading unfamiliar grounds in places, cutting of the final Saga, the storytelling and merits provide the lighthearted sense of adventure and great entertainment that make this remade, once in a long time of those long-run shounen anime, such fun.

Weskalia's Dynasty Warriors Game Review

Rated: 8

All this criticism of DW7's sameness is not to say that it's a bad game. Quite the contrary. The gameplay is solid, the graphics are fine by PS3/Xbox360 standards, and the storyline is well written. However, even calling DW7 an evolutionary game is a bit of a stretch - the core gameplay is basically identical to that of its predecessors, and though the menus and artwork have changed and a few new features have been added, the casual gamer would likely be hard-pressed to guess which Dynasty Warriors game this is after observing a random battle scene for a couple of minutes.

Weskalia's Kobato Tv Review

Kobato

Rated: 9

Kobato. isn't going to appeal everyone with its store full of effortlessly sugary sweetness, and in the end, it might feel a little hollow, but it does, at the very least, do a narratively competent and entertaining job telling a delightful story of magic and romance. Madhouse's visual prowess is on full display once again, and the result is a beautiful, carefully detailed and altogether pleasant wisp of an anime that does absolutely everything – from the characters' personalities to the story construction to the emotional stakes that hold the whole thing together – in miniature. It's a fitting and reasonable welcome to the warm and familiar pleasure of Kobato.'s world and one of the finest and most entertaining anime series in recent memory.

Weskalia's Blade of the Immortal Tv Review

Blade of the Immortal

Rated: 6

There's little about Blade of the Immortal you haven't seen before. There's the poorly constructed pacing about the anime you haven't seen before. And there's the right amount of excitement at the end that makes you urge for more you haven't seen before. While it possesses the attractiveness and ruthless power the manga has, it's expected to come unsatisfied. The only way to ensure it's a tribute to the manga is its gorgeously gory artistry, which the animators did well; it, however, may not be as sexy as it appears to be.

Weskalia's Yuru Yuri Tv Review

Yuru Yuri

Rated: 7

There aren't that many people into this girls liking girls stuff, but perhaps it's hard to look away Yuruyuri's hilarious comedy. If it sounds like there isn't a plot to this one, you'd be right. This adaptation of a short-gag manga plays out like one, the goofy content is essentially what one would get if one crossed Lucky Star with K-ON!, or even Hidamari Sketch. The artistry and animation are deliberately very basic - and that works to the content's advantage in a couple of places - but the succession of gags is usually so funny that it won't matter.

No one will find any real depth here, but anyone who leaves without a smile is probably the kind of person who thinks its predecessors are unfunny slops. If that's you, then this is one series you'd probably best avoid.

Weskalia's Dog Days Tv Review

Dog Days

Rated: 4

A lot of Dog Days is pure insipid, you've seen this kind of story and thousand times, and furthermore, you've seen it in better-animated and better-written. The series looks and acts exactly like every other empty fantasy romance out there. Sure it's cute, but not remarkably so. Sure its optimism and simplicity may make you want to gag, but with a little effort. You know how they say that you can't look away from a train wreck? Dog Days is very similar to a train wreck, both in its speed and the totality of its ultimate destruction, but unlike the wreck, it's all too easy to look away from. And that's death for a television series.

Weskalia's Sora no Woto Tv Review

Sora no Woto

Rated: 8

In truth, So Ra No Wo To's story and its central idea aren't as independent as I make them out to be, but it does a fine job of presenting a rich alternate future world and a fun, slice-of-life comedy and war story that doesn't disappoint, provided you have a tolerance for said moe appeal. While it does success at showing that moe can be pulled off in an interesting setting, a lot of its story is pure fluff. Some of its late plot developments seem hasty and forced, nasty background revelations pop up with only the barest prior hints (if any) that those characters had troubled backgrounds, the warmonger character introduced late is over-the-top to an eye-rolling degree, and the climax falters a bit, which leaves the last episode to bring out the best part is overreacting.

Weskalia's Senkou no Night Raid Tv Review

Senkou no Night Raid

Rated: 7

TV Tokyo and Aniplex's Anime no Chikara project aim to create anime series that are not based on any material, and Senkou no Night Raid was the second in title. It can be ambiguous for its own good, it wants to be a hard-hitting historical anime mixed with spy elements but some of the plot twist are not flesh, and the characters are left undeveloped. Luckily, it has a better written second half and four DVD-only extra episodes to close the unsatisfying ending after the thirteenth episode to form a solid climax. And the fact that it is set during the timeline when there's one war ahead adds more dark resonance and throws enough strong content to be well worth a look. That it kicks ass too is icing on the cake.
