Weskalia's Black Cat Tv Review

Black Cat

Rated: 7

To say that Black Cat is a bad show wouldn't be fair to its sporadically entertaining qualities, but it certainly isn't a complete good show either. If only it was without the "reject and escape from the organization that made you a killer" track, half-hearted cliche and with so many superior examples of the genre out there, it could have been better. A more solid writing, more exciting originalities to make it flourished are hard to imagine. The endearing qualities are in place, from the supporting cast - particularly Eve and Sven - to the weird yet amusing insertions of humor. Black Cat is still the first and probably most successful its author ever created, it indeed does leave a good impression that Train and Eve made appearance in his later works.

Weskalia's Corpse Demon Tv Review

Corpse Demon

Rated: 6

What makes Shiki a good but not sufficient series is the execution, literally the time jump. There's nothing wrong with that but it IS because of this method that by the epilogue, it's overloaded with plot holes: we all know what happened to the exorcist hag, but we like to see her last moments or why no one cares about her missing; according to Tatsumi, there are four jinrou, so what happened to the fourth?; the poor Tanaka family, but the epilogue never addressed how Akira survived; etc. The ending SERIOUSLY lacks a sense of closure, but since Shiki was based on the light novel and manga, I suppose those two are more detailed.

Another problem is the horror.

Weskalia's RIN ~Daughters of Mnemosyne~ Tv Review

Rated: 7

This mix of Christian legend with Greek, Norse mythologies succeeds because it does not aspire to be anything other than exactly what it is: a simple and usually straightforward fantasy story designed to entertain any anime fan. For a series this class, its supernatural settings and appropriate storytelling can impress anyone unlike those typical, dull fanservice anime which will immediately fail due to bad writings and overuse of undergarments.

However, as hilariously watchable it may get, it's really, really, REALLY violent and nasty. The series is completely inappropriate for kids and can infect your mind. I would recommend Mnemosyne to anyone, but beware and proceed with cautions.

And remember to turn down the volume unless you want your folks know what you're doing.

Weskalia's Eden of the East Tv Review

Eden of the East

Rated: 9

This anime is an easy pick for the year's top honors as this near-future political thriller about an amnesiac guy, a cell phone, and the girl who gets mixed up with them topple others merely by dint of aiming for, and hitting with irresistible force, cuttingly smart, politically and socially relevant, and yet loose, human and funny enough that it's never forbidding or pretentious.

Eden of the East is quite possibly the year's only "truly" great anime, few who give it a chance are likely to regret it. Even if the two movies were kinda let down, the conclusion of this weird and charming show is still, in a word, superb.

Weskalia's Devil May Cry Tv Review

Devil May Cry

Rated: 4

"The anime won't be as good as the game," that was my first thought long before watching. How? Because I have experienced and know that most video game-adapted works often end up bad. Devil May Cry the anime, in a way, proves to be not much different than a "for the fans" show as most of its audience were gamers. It's IS because these types were adapted from video games (and hardcore action nonetheless), they usually don't have much of a great plot and depend too heavily on overused genre elements. Unless you're a real Devil May Cry fan, you may see otherwise.

In the end, Devil May Cry isn't a terrible show, just sad and plain boring. But even at that, it won't ruin the reputation of the franchise and can still be considered a good entertainment after a few hours of demon-slashing.

Weskalia's Shinryaku! Ika Musume Tv Review

Rated: 8

One thing I know for certain, Ika-chan may never succeed at conquering the world, but her cuteness indeed has already conquered everyone's hearts. Each episode brings you to a three mini-stories full with absolute funny moments. If this merit continues, eventually, it might be tiresome, but still, Shinryaku! Ika Musume proves to be one of the season and the year's elite comedy series. So go watching or Ika-chan will invade your domain.

Oh, and Barack Obama is in it, too.

+Simple, but cute, well done and above all, hilarious.

Weskalia's Bamboo Blade Tv Review

Bamboo Blade

Rated: 9

Like the name suggests, the series can essentially be thought of as a sports anime, but it's not entirely about kendo, just about five high schoolgirls who have fun with the sport while facing various slice of life ordeals. Kendo does play a large role here with the plot never leaves the kendo field. Overall, Bamboo Blade is not only about hilariousness, but it's also about team membership, friendship and sportsmanship. It shows the significance of kendo, which could be forgotten, this may, in fact, be one of the series' greatest strengths: for some, kendo is a means to exercise violence in an acceptable manner, while for others the attraction is the fulfillment of mastering a precision discipline or appreciating true talent in action.

Weskalia's Kara no Kyokai Tv Review

Kara no Kyokai

Rated: 9

There you have it, folks, Type-Moon has done a fine job in creating a successful heptalogy. Kara no Kyoukai, generally speaking, is their greatest hit, far exceed others.

This is not your every day horror series, Kara no Kyoukai is simply spectacular, thrilling and it, at least, provides a satisfied ending. A must-watch, you don't want to cast this one off your collections. Indeed, the franchise has created a phenomenon that a sequel eventually been made (takes place ten years later with Shiki's daughter as the main lead) and Shiki has even made her way to Melty Blood.

It's a little sad that as series with a caliber like that have yet to be licensed is a mystery on par with any presented in the films themselves.

Weskalia's Hakuouki Shinsengumi Kitan Tv Review

Hakuouki Shinsengumi Kitan

Rated: 2

Conclusion, Hakuouki is a show for those into heavily used bishounen. Some people find it enjoyable, but from a veteran's point of view, this whole series is just an EPIC facepalm. To put it simply, it uses the artworks to blind the audiences, making them can't "judge a book by its cover." Personally, I don't have anything against the bishi, it's nice to see pretty people once in a while, but I can't stand this series. In fact, the first season was so disappointing that I restrain myself from continuing and I like to finish what I started; I don't know and certainly don't give a *censored* about what new improvements it will have.

Weskalia's Canaan Tv Review

Canaan

Rated: 7

At essence, Canaan was an entertaining show, a girls-with-guns/mystery/supernatural anime similar to those of Noir and Madlax, if you like those genre, you might like this. In many ways, Canaan lacks details, plot holes appear if one ponders the series' logic even a little bit, it contains some of the worst cliche found in many common works with the ending lacks a sense of closure. Still, this one looks and sounds good enough to succeed purely as a girls-with-guns series if nothing else.
